To promote and facilitate Broadband access through public-private cooperation – to provide all Arizona citizens and businesses the means to utilize high volume digital information and services at a reasonable cost – to create economic opportunity and improve quality of life for every person, organization, and community throughout Arizona.
In pursuit of accomplishing the above Mission, and;
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP (Internet Protocol) traffic capacity is a new essential infrastructure; and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity serving all types of business is essential and is required for attracting and retaining large businesses and growing smaller enterprises allowing entrepreneurs and home-based businesses to compete alongside large corporations; and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity is required for improving healthcare delivery while lowering costs and connecting patients in remotes areas to healthcare services; and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity is required for improving education outcomes while lowering costs through online learning and distance education; and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity is required for enhancing government services while lowering costs allowing these services to be more readily available to citizens; and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity is required for better and lower cost public safety and security;
and,
Whereas: Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity is required for increased quality of life for Arizona’s citizens by allowing companies and organizations to save money through new and improved telework policies, and allowing friends and families to stay in touch easily and affordably; and,
Whereas: Increased Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity and related economic growth can be accelerated through limited government and the simplification and lowering of providers’ cost-of-access to underserved markets; and,
Whereas: Increased Broadband Internet and IP traffic capacity and related economic growth can be accelerated through limited government and the improvement of providers’ return on investment calculations; and,
Now therefore, The Digital Arizona Council is established under the authority of the Arizona Strategic Enterprise Office (ASET) and based on the attached Organizational Framework and Operational Principles for the purpose of providing: Governance, Advise, and balanced Representation for Arizona’s diverse Broadband Stakeholders for the Digital Arizona Program.
